The workshop was held at the Royal Windsor Hotel in Brussels. Please contact Ulf Dahlsten for further information.
The focus of the workshop is on promising efforts to complement and enhance computer models presently available for policy support in global market governance. Examples of practical challenges that call for advances in computer modelling include the financial crisis – especially with its ramifications in the Euro area –, the difficulties to make substantial progress in global climate policy, and the far-reaching shifts in demographic structures.
The purpose of the workshop is to think out of the box, and its format is chosen so as to facilitate such thinking. Ambitious theoretical innovations shall be discussed along with examples of simulations currently used for policy support, and an informal atmosphere shall encourage the development of new ideas as well as changing perspectives.
Introductory remarks with brief plenary questions and answers shall lead to in-depth working-group discussions, that will then be fed back into the plenary. The program will be handled flexibly, so as to make sure that the workshop can prepare the ground for a series of practical steps in the coming months and years.
