Collaborative Study: 'A New Growth Path for Europe'

The synthesis report of the study on 'Creating Prosperity and Jobs in the Low-Carbon Economy' will be presented today, February 21st 2011 in Brussels.

The report, carried out on behalf of the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, by a consortium of six leading universities and institutes from across Europe describes how mitigating climate change should not be seen as a trade-off between economic growth and environmental protection.

Boosting economic growth rate, employment and strengthening the European project in fact require a bolder CO2 reduction target for Europe. This is not a matter of necessity, but one of choice, achievable through taking a path in which these elements strengthen each other in a virtuous circle.
